I am getting married next June, I want to wear a baby blue empire waist dress with a white ribbon around the waist. The reason I want to wear baby blue is because it is my favorite color and I have a child so the jig is up I can't really wear white and plus she will be in the wedding as the flower girl. I want her to wear a blue gingham dress and I want my bridesmaids to wear white.. Is this a stupid idea? I am just not 100% sure about it. Also we are planning on getting married in a botanical garden in June. Please let me know how you feel!!
Baby Blue Wedding Dress?
As a consultant, the first thing I tell my clients is that it is their day and they can have it any way they want it. Baby blue is a terrific color. If you will look through magazines or even on the internet at dresses, more and more dress styles are with color. White has always been a wedding color but these days brides want to add more color and not just with flowers. It's good to be creative with your day because the more you get what you want the better the memories will be for you and your new spouse.
Reply:ok one, do not listen to anyone that tells u its a bad idea!!! it's ur day and no one elses besides ur future husbands, if he likes the idea then do it! i'm sure it'll be beautiful!
Reply:Its your day!!! If you want to wear blue, and have your bridesmaids where white, there is nothing wrong with that!!!! But, if you DO want to wear white, there is nothing wrong with that!!!! Do what you want to do!!! As long as you are happy, that's what counts!!!!
Reply:While I don't mind the blue I really don't think you should have your bridesmaids wearing white. You'll definitely have some of your less intelligent guests really confused! You may want to opt for some other pastel color to compliment your blue dress.
Reply:Sounds pretty to me! You can do whatever you want!
Don't let the "white=pure/virgin" thing hold you up if you really want a white dress though! White means nothing about purity these days!
Whatever you choose it will be very pretty- those colors will be so crisp and fresh together- particularly nice for the botanical garden setting :)
Reply:I think it sounds like a wonderful idea!! The only thing I would do would to have the bridesmaids wear blue accessories or have the white dresses with some sort of blue accent. Have a blast with your wedding! Congrats and good luck!!
Reply:I think it's a lovely idea %26amp; a beautiful color scheme! I met a lady recently who married in baby blue - she is a seamstress %26amp; made her own gown %26amp; veil %26amp; they were gorgeous! If it makes you happy, sweetie, wear whatever color you wish. I love the idea of putting the tiny girl in gingham - that's adorable!! Especially for a garden wedding. Go for it %26amp; enjoy! Congratulations!!!!!
Reply:I think your color scheme sounds beautiful!
I've actually heard that blue wedding dresses were at one time the fashion (the late 1800s, I think), because blue is a color associated with the Virgin Mary, thus the blue color of the wedding dress symbolized virginity and faithfulness, etc. So if anyone challenges your decision, just say you're bringing back a tradition!
Reply:I think that sounds very pretty, but just so you know, you can wear white if you really wanted to. I do however like the idea of you in the blue with a white ribbon and I would put the bridesmaids in white liek yo usaid with something blue to accent it. also, make sure your hubby has something baby blue on, like the vest of his tux or his shirt or something to tie tou guys in together for pictures and stuff. other then that, its a lovely idea. congrats!
Reply:I like it! If you have like 4 or 5 maids, I think it will look great because you will pop against the white.
Reply:Its your day, do what makes you happy.
Reply:Do what makes you happy, however the "white = virgin" thing has gone to the wayside so if you really want to wear white, you can. There's a whole line of wedding dresses with colored accents (some have more color, some have less) on alfredangelo.com so I'd say look at both the baby blue option and a white/cream with baby blue accents one and decide what you want for yourself.
Reply:You can still wear white, but if your heart is set on the baby blue, go for it! I think the idea of the gingham dress that matches your is ridiculously cute!Your question made me laugh because I've been looking and there's a dress that comes in white, ivory, and baby blue, and I can't help but stare at the blue one! Everything I won is blue lol. anyway... bridesmaids in white is nontraditional, but i think it could look really pretty, especially if they wear really simple, classic dresses.
Reply:Here is a classier idea. Go to jessicamcclintock.com or dessy.com and pick a simple style ivory wedding dress or gown and then add a beautiful baby blue sash. For your daughter, put her in a white eyelet dress with a baby blue sash. Bridesmaids in baby blue with white sashes. Bouquets for bridal party..white flowers with blue stephonitis and littie green ivy, and your bouquet white roses and baby blue dyed roses and some green ivy with white satin ribbon wrapped around bouquet. Try davidsbridal for bridesmaids dresses. Gorgeous styles. You will look classy and very appropriate. This is what I feel. I hope you will agree and take my advice. Best of Luck
Reply:Do whatever you want, it's your wedding! Do what would make you the happiest!
Reply:sounds lovely for the celebration you are planning.
it is YOUR DAY - wear what you want . od DOES NOT matter what anyone else thinks about the matter.
years ago I made white bridesmaids dresses for a bride who wore red
the gingham dress for your daughter would be AWESOME - something she should be comfortable in %26amp; be able to wear again
AS someone else said however - you can wear white if you wish regardless of any antiquated ideas
white wedding dresses were originally only born by brides whos parents were VERY wealthy= because of the impracticality of the colour
Reply:Of course you can wear white!! 60 year old brides with grandchildren wear white. I think a white gown trimmed in baby blue would be better. Your other idea sounds great but don't hold back on the white because you think you can't. Alfred Angelo has tons of dresses trimmed in baby blue. Good Luck.
Reply:yeah, do what ever you feel
Reply:no sounds lovely its what you want and not what people think good look for your big day
