david lockhart had a son john lockhart who married lydia ada lockhart (nee francis) but i am having trouble going any further back on david lockharts line. You might also write to David Lockhart's ex-employers and see if they have any more details about him. I assume you have done several websearches and looked up standard botany books in your local large library.

Where was he in 1841? If he was in the UK you may be able to find him on the 1841 census which has been fully index by at least one commecial company (S%26amp;N on their websire The Genealogist).

Other than that there is the IGI (use with caution and check originals of all documents).

Good luck.
Reply:all of the above are good answers, also try going to any ancestry sites. good luck.
Reply:Hi, Have you tried Kew Gardens to see if they have any knowledge of him or the Agricultural society. wish you luck
Reply:Another source - The Royal Horticultural Society.

I assume you've checked out Clan Lockhart (or did you found it? It may be your website)
Reply:parish records, or maybe they have records at Kew Gardens which would tell you when he worked there, then that should lead to the next bit of the puzzle.
