Got the picture off yahoo. But These squirrels are in the Botanical Garden In San Francisco Park %26gt;%26lt; Does anyone know what their names or species type they are? I know they are squirrels.. but what type?
Does Anyone Know What Is The Name Of This Squirrel?
Hard to really tell by the picture, but it sure looks like the common "red squirrel". They are smaller by far than the fox squirrel, and more of the size of the eastern gray squirrel.
The ring around the eyes are what gives me this identification. They are plentiful in the eastern United States, but I'm not sure of their range. Since they have a diet of most anything, I see no reason why they are not also common in the western states.
Reply:California ground squirrel. See: http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/im...
But most likely a Douglas squirrel-which is endemic to the Pacific coastal region according to wikepedia. http://www.nhptv.org/natureworks/douglas...
Reply:looks like a red squirrel...smaller than the grays around here...
