As a bronx native I will just assume you are going to the one in the bx. The rose garden is great and very close to the amazing conservatory (don't miss it). There a few different enviroments replicated in the conservatory, tropical and humid to dry and desert. There are water gardens in front of the conservatory not to be missed. A walk thru the hemlock forest is also nice and so is the snuff mill on the bx river. Then for lunch or diner go oveer to Arthur Ave for really good Italian food. I prefer Domincs which has communal tables , food is served family style and the waiter just sor of makes up the bill when you're read to leave.

Enjoy
Reply:You don't say which botanical garden: Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, or at Snug Harbor on Staten Island. I particularly like the last of those, for the ponds that attract ducks and other birds, the fountains, for the incredible variety of different types of roses, and for the very ultra civilized dining. The one in Queens is rather skimpy and sun-blasted. Brooklyn's is nice enough, but rather small also
