Can someone tell me something about the Botanical Gardens in San Juan?

I heard that it is almost like the rain forest and that its not too far from the cruise ship area

Can someone tell me something about the Botanical Gardens in San Juan?
Yes to both, however it's in the middle of an Urban Area known as Rio Piedras, which isn't the safest area (but by no means is it crime-ridden) and not too many tourists go to.

Personally, I would opt for a quick rainforest tour- it's less than an hours drive from the docks to the rainforest and I feel it's a better alternative than the Botanical Gardens.
Reply:I have been there and I live in Santurce which is 15 minutes from San Juan Piers. Yes, the Garden is 20 to 30 minutes from the piers. But, from Old San Juan there is the Metro Express bus that goes to Sagrado Corazon Train station and the train has a stop near the gardens, but you will have to walk back from the station about 2 blocks. You can take a taxi, but I am not too much into taxis and their charge I can't say. To be truthful, the traffic from the piers when ships come in is a heavy and to leave San Juan is a bit slow. But if the ship gives you enough time, you can go but it will be like a rush thing and the gardens are too beautiful to go fast through. I have been to the gardens and it is like a forest. There are a variety of trees, ponds with turtles, a variety of birds, flowers and so much to see. If you want to see the gardens it is best for you to go when there is no rush.

Reply:I visited the Botanical Gardens in San Juan and found it to be a truly lovely place with bamboos and all types of Palms Trees.

There is a little confusion on how to get there but after getting lost a bit I found the place.

Ive been to the rain forest "El Yunque", but a friend recommended the gardens. Its truly a must see and something different.
