Anyone can suggest a park (along the lines of the botanical gardens) that is nice to walk around and open late

Or just a nice park, to walk around in.

There are several botanical gardens in NYC ~

Brooklyn Botanic Gardens

Queens Botanical Gardens

Los Americans Gardens

Almacen Y Bonitanicas

Pure World Botanicals

As far as parks, NYC is known for it's parks..during the day you have a host of parks, Bryant Park, The Jamaican Bay Wildlife Refuge in Queens which boosts 9,150 acres and 325 speices of birds to watch. You've got Ware Hill and many others. The only ones open in NYC at night are Washington Square Park and Central Park. Still I would not recommend that you "walk" through either alone. Good luck and enjoy your time in NYC!!!
Reply:The only parks I know of in Manhattan that are open late are Central Park and Washington Square Park. Washington Square is usually very busy all night because there are loads of clubs and restaurants in the immediate vicinity as well as NYU and not very scenic, but the people watching is great and you can often hear and see street performers there.

Central Park, although it's much safer now than it was in years past, still creeps me out at night. Though during the summer, they have a lot of free concerts there and it's well populated late at night.

Most other parks close at sundown.
Reply:Conservatory Garden in Central Park, 105th Street and Fifth Avenue.

not too many people come this far up, so it's always nice and quiet, full of locals...
